The purpose of this exercise is to offer the best opportunities for more children to play the game, for them to become better players and to provide the most child friendly football we can to maximise their enjoyment. This process finished at the end of September this year and has then been seen by a number of internal committees at The Football Association, including Football Development, Referee’s, Youth and the National Game Board.
Below is a website link to the final proposals in a presentation format, after two years research, along with some supporting notes and FAQ’s. This list is currently not exhaustive and will continue to grow as more questions are asked and amended versions of the FAQ’s will be circulated when required.
The FA is now looking to use the next three-five months to share the proposals with our customers in the game so you are aware of how your input has shaped what is finally proposed. How the proposals look today from where the FA started two years ago are very different and this has been down to the input from the grassroots game who we all wish to thank. We are very excited as to what the future holds for youth football as we move towards making the game even better for young people.
The next step now for the FA is to consult with County FA’s on the recommendations before final proposals are taken to the National Game Board and FA Council in April.
The WFA is now asking that as many of our stakeholders involved in youth football are consulted on these very important proposals. This feedback will then be considered and we can take a view on the level of support for each of the main three recommendations, included within the presentation.
