Futsal Title Claimed by Young Guns

10:41 AM, Tuesday, 20 December 11. Futsal

Congratulations to Kidderminster Harriers FITC Under 18’s, who triumphed in winning the WFA Men’s County Futsal League 2011.

Following the last set of fixtures, Harriers found themselves on level points with Randoms FC (a team made up of local lads from Kidderminster too!); therefore a play-off was contested between the two teams given that there head-to-head record was also tied.

The play-off proved to be a closely fought contest but one in which Harriers had the edge and in doing so took the County League Futsal title for 2011.

Thanks goes to all teams that took part in the league which began in October including; Leigh & Bransford Badgers Myths, Leigh & Bransford Badgers Legends, Worcester City Wanderers and Hornets FC, in addition to Randoms FC and the eventual winners Kidderminster Harriers FITC.

Special thanks goes to Jonathan Wilson who was ever present on a Friday, coordinating the league on behalf of the Worcestershire Football Association.

Matt Jones (WFA Football Development Officer) said “Over the past two years the County League has run successfully from March to May. This year, following the success of the Men’s Just Play Futsal Centre in the summer, I took a different tact with a view to offering regular competitive futsal opportunities throughout the season, hence beginning in October this year".

Jones continued “This league has been a small success and I strongly believe that there is a market out there of players who wish to play futsal midweek. Therefore I will reflect and liaise with my colleagues, with a view to offering another opportunity to play futsal early in 2012”.
