Its a Beautiful Game

3:27 PM, Wednesday, 02 June 10. Futsal

The WFA Men's County Futsal League drew to a conclusion on Friday evening after 8 weeks worth of match-play.

Eight teams from across the county took part in the league contesting weekly fixtures on the 3G rubber crumb ATP pitch located at the King George 'V' Playing Fields (Brickfields, Worcester).

Out of the 8 teams, four were brand new and unfamiliar with the small sided game of 'Futsal' but following 8 weeks of futsal fun one of the new players was quoted as saying 'its a beautiful game this futsal - love it'.

When asked what the future plans were regarding the league Matt Jones (League Secretary) said 'I envisage the league growing and ideally would like to create two divisions (1st & 2nd) with a view to developing regular ability based futsal competition for adults. However, I can only achieve this by raising the profile of the game to which I need your assistance – so please help to spread the word!'

Congratulations to Kidderminster Lions who were crowned League Champions and will go onto represent the county in the Regional Qualifying rounds of the FA Futsal Cup. Also, congratulations go to Hornets FC (League Runners-Up) and Leigh & Bransford Myths (Plate Winners).

The County FA would like to thank all players, coaches & referees that contributed to the success of the Men’s County Futsal League 2010, with special thanks to the facility provider and its staff from Worcester City Council.
